O governo de Israel anunciou nesta quarta-feira (18/10) que vai permitir ajuda humanitária para a população civil na Faixa de Gaza pelo Egito. As informações são do portal Al Jazeera .
Em comunicado, o gabinete do primeiro-ministro de Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, informou que suprimentos humanitários vindo do lado de Israel na fronteira não serão permitidos, mas que qualquer ajuda proveniente do Egito será liberada.
"À luz da exigência do presidente Biden, Israel não impedirá o fornecimento humanitário do Egito enquanto for apenas comida, água e medicamentos para a população civil no sul da Faixa de Gaza”, disse o gabinete.
O governo destacou ainda que a ajuda vinda de Israel não será liberada enquanto os reféns do país não forem devolvidos. Além disso, pede que a Cruz Vermelha visite os nossos sequestrados e trabalhe para mobilizar amplo apoio internacional para esta demanda. O gabinete do primeiro ministro alertou ainda que "Quaisquer suprimentos que cheguem ao Hamas serão impedidos".
Mais cedo, as Forças de Defesa de Israel (IDF) já tinham dito que iriam permitir a entrada de ajuda humanitária internacional "conforme necessário" aos civis que se deslocarem do norte da Faixa de Gaza para o sul.
